Finally. This is almost Christmas !!! Today I thought I would talk a bit about it. It may not be very original but I don't care.
To begin with, we cannot forget its origins. It's a religious and cultural celebration as it's an annual festival commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ (I'll give you a hint : that's why we call it Christmas) and it is celebrated everywhere around the world.
I just love it.
First of all, the atmosphere before and during Christmas. Decorations, illuminations, music in the streets, Christmas markets, Christmas movies (no matter how naive they might be) snow (potentially.... Okay, I KNOW this is pretty inconvenient when you gotta work but come on ! It's so beautiful, you can go tobogganing, skating, skiing, you can build snowmen with it.... if you want to..... Alright, I got it, I'm not going to sing the song)... Everyone is usually so joyful and cheerful within that period. That's one of the reasons why I love winter, specially December (besides, a lot of people are on vacation at the end of the mounth so... yeah). The Christmas tree is also very important if you're celebrating it ! My family and I never avoid it.
Which leads us to the fact that Christmas isn't only a great feast but also a moment to spend with your family. That's what makes it so precious. Family (including friends, cause friends are part of your family) is, acording to me, the most important thing you have in this world. You can be rich, have everything you've ever wanted (which is a good thing by the way, I won't lie), I think you'll never be truly happy if you're lonely. Christmas makes us remember that we can't always focus on our frustrations and on all the bad things but enjoy those key moments in our life, cause life is short and cannot be wasted. So yes, in my opinion, even presents aren't what matters the most. It's being with the ones you love that counts. And Christmas also gives you the opportunity to see some members of your family you don't get to see very often because they live far away from your city for exemple. My family means everything to me and I'm always grateful I get to share a beautiful moment like that with them.
But come on. The most increidible part of it..... is the amazing amount of food that it brings. Seriously.
I just wish everyone could spend a good Christmas, with food, children unwrapping their presents in a warm house. Unfortunately, this is not the case. Some people don't have that chance. It makes us aware of that chance that we have to be able to do that, that we should focus on it instead of complaning about everything.
So yes. I think Christmas is wonderful and I hope you love it as much as I do. But if you don't, that's not a big deal.
Anyway, I'll see you next year (yes..... I HAD to do it!), probably with a Star Wars review (I love the Star Wars saga and I'm gonna see The Force Awakens on Saturday, I can't wait!). In the meantime, I wish you a happy festive season and a merry merry merry merry Christmas ! :D
I'll leave you with those... charming snowmen from Doctor Who :)
